TO obtain a copy of this estate file you need to contact the Registar of Wills for Wyoming County.
Wyoming County Courthouse
1 Courthouse Square
Tunkhannock, PA 18657
(570) 836-3200

Name of deceased and give them the dates and items shown below and that is all they should need to locate the file. From how this item reads, it suggests he resided in Forkstown/Forkston at the time of death.

Message Board Post:

I found the Abstract of my GGGrandfather's Will in the above publication listing either Vol 6 or Vol 12 #2, pg 85 (it was confusing) as the source.

How do I go about obtaining a copy of the Will?

The Abstract reads:

Junk, John of Forkstown Twp. died 15 August 1889. Bond of John G. Spaulding, Frank J. Spaulding, G.H. Burgess, $1,000.
23 June 1892 Renun. of widow, Margaret & children; Josephine, Lizzie, Lewis & Mrs. Wm Saxe. (my GGrandfather wasn't listed - William Henry Junk) Letters 23 June 1892, Widows claim 28 June 1892, Renun 16 June 1892.

John died in Fallbrook, Tioga County, but I found him, Margaret and the children in the 1860 Census for Forkstown as John Junks and was indexed as Janks. He was living next to his elder sister, (Nancy) Ann Junk Girven. In 1870, 6 of the children were baptized at St. Andrews in Blossburg, a few miles from Fallbrook, Tioga County. He & family are listed in the 1880 Census of Fallbrook and he was the School Board president in 1881 and was involved in several Catholic societies.

I wonder why, if he died in Tioga, would his Will wind up in the Wyoming County Courts? Three years after the fact? And why would 3 people have to post a $1,000.00 bond?

I was hoping someone could tell me how to go about getting a copy of the will so I can answer these questions.

Thank you for your time.

Diane Junk Riley
