Margaret Paxson Jacob of Warwick Township, Chester County, PA died suddenly on
12/24/98 at Reading Hospital (PA). She was 89. She was the wife of the late
Ellis Lewis Jacob. Born in Swarthmore, PA, she was the daughter of the late
Charles and Alice Hall Paxson. She was a graduate of George School, Class of
1927. She received a BA with honors, in Social Sciences from Swarthmore
College, Class of 1931. She was a life member of the Delaware Valley Milk
Goat Association, a life member of the American Dairy Goat Assoc. and a member
of the Hay Creek Valley Historical Assoc. She was married to Ellis Jacob
whose sudden death in 1946 caused her to move to the 236 acre Jacob family
farm in Warwick Township, Chester County. It was there she raised her three
young children.
Peg was a leader of the CheDelBe $-H Dairy Goat Club and actively encouraged
young men and women to farm and raise goats. Many of her Toggenberg and
American La Mancha goats were National Grand Champions. She continued to
raise and breed goats until Nov. 1997. Animals, of all sorts, were her life.
She loved birds, feeding wild ones, and always had a canary or two.
She is survived by her 3 children, Ann Jacob Weikel and her husband, Joel of
Blairs Mills, PA, Walter W. Jacob and his wife, Suzanne Fellman Jacob of
Chalfont PA and Charles H. Jacob and his wife, Martha L. Jacob of Warwick
Township, Chester County; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. In addition
to her husband, she was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Eleanor Paxson
Keighton and Dr. Carol Paxson Brainerd; and a brother, Wm. Hall Paxson.
Relatives and friends are invited to memorial service which will be at 1:30pm
on Sat. Jan. 9, 1999 at Harmonyville Church of the Brethren, Harmonyville,
near St. Peters, Chester County, PA. Interment will be private. Memorial
contributions in Peg's name may be sent to the Hay Creek Valley Historical
Association, PO Box 36, Geigertown, PA 19523. (Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home,
