Hello Clansmen,
I saw your query on the Electric Scotland Clan MacFadyen page and wanted to let you know a few cousins and I have just ordered our MacFadyen Tartan from the Scottish Tartan Museum in Franklin, NC which is the US office of the Tartan Society in Scotland. The MacFadyen Tartan is a very rare Tartan and we had to special order it. Luckily someone had already ordered a bolt of the material and did not buy it, so they had some on hand in Scotland. If you want one, just call the Tartan Museum at (828)524-7472 and ask for Tom and tell him you wish to order the MacFadyen Tartan with the Peden group (which we are ordering the MacFadyen Hunting) and give him your measurements. We are getting a discount for multiple orders and your welcome to be a part of it. The cost is 425.00 for the Tartan. The best price for a 16 oz quality kilt I have ever seen. A question I have for you is have you ever saw a MacFadyen Crest-Badge and where can I find one? I have been looking for some time t!
o no avail. I have been wearing the Maclaine of Lochbuie badge. Also, we have formed the Clan MacFadyen which was actually established in 1899 but has been under the name of Peden (pronounced PA-DIN) until recently when in our research (with the help of the Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie) we found the true Highland Clan name of our family is MacFadyen which in Gaelic means "son of Paidin". I will keep you apprised on the progress and it should be in place under the MacFadyen by fall of this year. For now you can visit the website which is still under the Peden name at the moment, but is under construction and should be updated soon. I am also going to cc in our Peden e-mail group which I haven't gotton to tell them about this yet and if any of them are interested in purchasing our family Tartan they can order one by the information above. Take care and I look forward to hearing from you.
To the PEDEN:
I have updated the Clan PEDEN International website with our Official Tartan (with thanks to the Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie for their help) and also added a partial history, on the Peden of Scotland link.
