hi there,
p e i is devided into three counties and 67 townships.abt. 20,000
acres each.surveyor sam holland designated these numerically for the
british who wanted it to be mostley british after the expulsion of the
acadians in 1755-58. in 1767 these townships were diss. by lottery to
persons deserving royal patronage."lot" for lottery. i got this from a
great "little red book" genealogist"s handbook for atlatic canada
research"
edited by terrence m. punch,cg(c) found a most book stores or genealogy
societys.
i visited P E I last year, and was there for the bridge opening. i
visited anne of green gables from the outside, there had been a fire and
it was under repair. how beautiful P E I is..my gr.m.annie greenan
was born in kinkora. i stopped at st. malichys to find one greenan in
town but no one was available either at the church or rectory.so,on i
went to charlotte town and had a great time there.the locals were very
friendly and helpfull.i look forward to coming back.

your acadian cousin
