> Dear Members of PEI Roots:

I was quite surprised to see such an email get through, to our PEI forum. First
of all, the letter is listed as 'personal'
to a federal cabinet minister - the only cabinet minister from our province of
PEI. If it is personal, why is it on this forum?

It then goes on to state a personal political opinion: (quote) 'unnecessary
expensive election, many Bills or Motions that were succeeding, were dumped in the
Parliamentary Trash Can'. Obviously, Muriels seems to know when to call an
election ,or not to call one. She doesn't know that elections must be called
within a five year period at the prerogative of the governing party or Her
Majesty. The election cost is the same, whether called after 3yrs or 4yrs which is
the norm.

Muriel, also forgot that the Canadian electorate made their election choice, and
were not displeased with the governing party (Liberals) decisions, or their
election call, as the electorate returned the Liberals with an even GREATER
majority.

Muriel, somehow feels the constituents of the Hon. Lawrence MacAulay riding
(Cardigan - PEI) can not decide what is fair or not fair and must take up the
battle for them, even though she is not a riding member, she feels she must
defend the Cardigan constituents

I believe this forum should be A-political. I realize we have issues that affect
our genealogical research and politicians may be able to help. I doubt that such a
public chastizing, will endear political friends to our causes.

I for one will offer my apologies that such fine gentleman as the Honorable
Lawrence MacAulay name was dragged through the mud on this forum, especially at
this time when his plate is so full of national security issues.

(PS: Muriel - with all your research on the Hon. MacAulay - one would have thought
you would have learned how to spell his name)
