Could a kind soul please tell me where I could find out about this business of "merchants and shipbuilders" owned by John MACKIE and John MACKENZIE near New London?

On page 68 of "History of French River" in the "Mackenzie" section, there is the following paragraph:

"In 1825 John MACKENZIE married Jane MCKIE and for a time owned the property now belonging to Dale MACKAY. He sold the property to Capt. James HARDING in 1840, although it had been leased by Harding prior to that date. John MACKENZIE becames a partner of his brother-in-law John MCKIE at Yankee Hill where they were merchants and ship builders."
