Subject: [PEI] Lake Map Completed!

Hi Everyone:

Just a short note to tell you that Garth and I have completed the
Lake Map digitization on the Island Register.

All lots, with the exception of Lot on are online - lot 1 is very heavily
damaged on the original, and not worth putting on. This and several
other damaged lots will be replaced when we get scans from a
copy of the Lake Map with these portions undamaged.
Unfortunately, all Lake Maps are damaged to some extent - due to
the nature of the materials they were made of, and due to their age.
We hope eventually to make the quality of all lots equal.

Come and enjoy this remarkable resource!

Interesting and informative comparisons may be made between this
map, and the 1880 Meacham's, and 1928 Cummin's Atlases. This
map was done while many of the lots were owned by Absentee
Landlords - the later atlases followed the Land Purchase Act of
1875. In many cases, in the three successive maps, you can
folllow the moves of three generations of a family - over 65 years of
Island history. Meacham's and Cummin's reprints are available from
the PEIMHF - see their catalog at: http://www.islandregister.html

You will find the Lake Map project online at:

Enjoy, and Happy New Year!

Dave
