PORTLAND - Henry J. (Petie) Arsenault, 87, died Wednesday morning, Jan.
9, 2002, at the Seaside Health Care Center. He was born Sept. 18, 1914,
in Tingnish, Prince Edward Island, Canada, the son of Joshua and Marie
(Peters) Arsenault. He came to the U.S. as an infant and was raised in
Westbrook, where he attended St. Hyacinth School and Church. Henry was
married 61 years to Leona (Martin) Arsenault and fathered five sons,
Richard (Josina) of Amsterdam, Holland, Dennis (Shirley) Bozeman of
Mont., Gary (Gloria) of Standish, Maine, David (Lori) of Oakland, Maine,
and Martin, who preceded him in death as a young child. Also surviving
are six grandchildren, Nadine, Stephan, Kevin, Nicole, Simone, and
Janine; and a sister Martha Beaudet of Westbrook, Maine. A great joy in
his retirement life were the girls Emily and Kaitlin, daughters of Tom
and Kathy Ainsworth. Henry was a fourth Degree Knight of Columbus #2219,
and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2977, both of
Westbrook. As a young parent, he was quite active as a committee member
of Troup 87 Boy Scouts of America. He was also a past president of the
Westbrook Little League Association. He was a very active participant in
Westbrook youth activities while his children were being raised, and for
a period of time after all four sons were in the military. Henry was a
member of the Army National Guard for 13 years prior to and during WW
II. He retired at age 62 from S.D. Warren Paper Co. after 29 years of
service. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. In lieu of flowers,
the family requests donations be made to the V. N.A. Home Health Care,
50 Foden Rd., So. Portland, Maine 04106, in his memory. Arrangements in
care of Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. Henry J.
Arsenault
