I have been to Woodlawn Cemetary in Portland, Maine and found 4 of my relatives. Notice they are buried with the name "MacCormack" not McCormack. I was surprised because my grandmother told me he was MacCormack when she married him, but he didn't tell anyone he was born a McCormack; she had to find out herself through social security.
Now I have to do some research by collecting such documents as birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage certificates, here in Maine.
The following is written on the grave stones:
My grandfather Wilfred W. MacCormack 1893 - 1956.
My grandmother Elizabeth A. MacCormack 1896 - 1971
My uncle
Wilfred W. MacCormack Jr.
Maine
Sgt. 1153 Base Unit AAF
World War II
July 23, 1920 - Sept. 25, 1970
My Aunt
Gloria M. Clarke (nee MacCormack)
Aug 1, 1926 - Jan 13, 1976
If anyone has a link to these, I think I can help you with more. I have another uncle, Walter who died in Cumberland , Maine about 1979. I'll be taking making a visit there in about a week.
Thanks,
John Oughtibridge
