Dear List,
A friend of mine has found the following obituary and has asked me to
pass it on to the list in the hope that it will help someone. From the
Lowell Courier Citizen newspaper published in Lowell, Mass., Saturday,
22 July 1939:
EVA C. WEBSTER
Mrs. Eva C. Webster, a resident of this city for the past 42 years, died
yesterday afternoon at her home, 171 Upham Street, after a long
illness. She was the wife of Albert C. Webster and was well known here
for years as the proprietor of the Corner Cupboard Tea Room at Prescott
and Central Streets. Mrs. webster was born Aug. 17, 1877 in Alberton,
P.E.I., the daughter of William and Emma Cochrane Clark. She was a
member of the Matthews Memorial P.M. Church and of Spindle City Lodge
Ladies Auxiliary, Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen of Lowell. Besides
her husband she leaves two sons, Clayton O. Webster of Sumpter, S.C.,
and Theron C. Webster of the Fenway Clothes shop here; six sisters, Mrs.
Eugene Clark and Mrs. Vera Clark of Damariscotta, Me., Mrs. George
Castner, Mrs. Harry Roberts and Mrs. Arthur Buote all of Philadelphia,
Pa., and Mrs. John Craig of Lowell; three brothers, Garfield Clark of
Framingham, Braden Clark of Medford and Baker Clark of Philadelphia,
Pa., also several nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the While
& Roy Mortuary, 236 Westford Street, where friends may call beginning
this afternoon at 4 o'clock.
