There is no required format for messages to this list. Several postings
to the list and several to me have suggested formats. Although these may
be followed it is voluntary and since this list is not exclusively
genealogy there is no one size fits all method.

It is not always possible to squeeze enough key words into the subject
line to tip off those people who will not be interested in that mail not
to open it.(also there are times when although the message appears to
have no particular interest I 've been surprised to find the opposite in
the content.) In all mailing lists not all mail will interest all people.
Opening an occasional piece of mail to discover no interest in it goes
with the turf (ask me about bounced mail) and is less problem than
dealing with unwanted snail mail.

As far as the body of the message, sensible suggestions have been made
re:genealogy queries.

As list administrator I read every piece of mail, they are all of
interest to me, and I encourage more use of the list by members and at
this point see no reason to require any changes in format for message
subjects.
