JAMES H. MILLER, a native of northern Ohio, was born October 19, 1837,
and
is a son of Samuel and Charity (Pennington) Miller, both natives of
Ohio,
and of the Quaker religion. James H. Miller was educated at Earlham
College, Richmond, Ind., and in 1864 volunteered in the One Hundred and
Thirty-seventh Ohio. At the close of the war he returned to Cincinnati,
and engaged as a salesman in a wholesale cap business, and was afterward
manager of the Western Department of the Holman Liver Pad Company in the
East. In 1872 he located in Covington, Kenton Co., Ky., where, in 1885,
he
was appointed United Stages gauger. In 1866 he married Miss Rosa
Bartlett,
daughter of Nathaniel Bartlett. [See sketch of Nathaniel Bartlett.]
