CATHERINE PENNINGTON

SUMMERVILLE - Catherine Scalise Pennington, 84, died Monday in a
Charleston hospital. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Dyal
Funeral Home. The funeral will be at noon Thursday in St. John the
Beloved Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial
Gardens in North Charleston.
Mrs. Pennington was born in Handley, W.Va., a daughter of Sam Scalise
and Theresa Loretta Scalise. She was a member of St. John the Beloved
Roman Catholic Church and was the widow of Jesse M. Pennington.
Surviving are two sons, Robert F. Blake of Summerville and Sam R. Blake
of Richmond, Calif.; three daughters, Mary Frances Arbaugh of Orange
County, Calif., Nancy Blewer of St. George and Patricia Huff of
Richmond, Va.; a brother, Frank Scalise of Smithers, W.Va.; a sister,
Pauline Littlejohn of Beckley, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.
