In an early book previously mentioned on this list, The Pennington Family
by Capt. A.C.M. Pennington 1871 Boston, two other books are quoted in the
introduction. These are Fuller's "Worthies of England" and Moule's
"English Counties". In Fuller's book, it says that Jamel resided at
Muncaster long antecedent to the conquest. In Moule's book a reference to
the town of Pennington two miles west of Ulverston states: "It contains
fifty houses and two hundred and eighty-four inhabitants. Westward of St.
Michael's Church is Castle hill, the site of an ancient residence of the
Pennington family who removed hence to Muncaster in 1242." Although these
two statements contradict one another and might raise further questions,
they might provide further avenues for research. Happy hunting from a
group 3 cousin!
