Hi Cousins,
Yesterday's New York Times had an article that would be of interest
to anyone with New Jersy roots. The oldest corporation in the USA, is
to be dissolved soon. At 314 years, the "East Jersy Board of
Proprietors" predates not only New Jersy but the USA also. William Penn
was one of the 12 original members. Of interest is over 300 years of
maps, deeds, wills, grants, etc., that are to be turned over to the
Archives in Trenton. The URL for this article is:
http://partners.nytimes.com/aponline/f/AP-Death-of-A-Corporation.html?Re
fld=SzYQoms=Eutt2n2ntZm Although not available to the public yet, these
records sound like a gold mine.
