In Oct 1997, Mary Woods <> posted a message to this list that
included name & dates for an Asa Pennington, son of my ggggg grandfather,
Timothy (Group 4), born in NC and died in MO, but her information says this
one died in 1853, so they're probably not the same man. You can find her
message in the Rootsweb archives.

I show several other Asa Penningtons, all descendants of Timothy. One was
born in KY (in 1830), but I show his place of death to be TX. He was a son
of Timothy's son, Riggs (my gggg grandfather), and married Clara Applewhite
in Texas in 1855. However, his children were born in TX between 1856 and
1878 (according to Burney Parker <>, who got the
names from the Washington Co., TX vital records), so he's probably not the
one you're looking for either.

Another was the son of Simeon Pennington, son of Timothy, and Simeon's wife
Elizabeth "Lyddy" Whitson. This Asa was born in 1805 according to my
information, place unknown. This Asa had a brother born in KY (the only
one of that family whose birthplace I show), so he's a possibility. I
found his name on a website belonging to <> at
http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Docks/4349/ which I viewed in Jan 1999.

The last one in my database (which is far from all-inclusive) is much too
young to be yours: This Asa Pennington was born in 1848 in TX, son of
Elijah, son of Riggs, son of Timothy.

Maybe these hints will at least help eliminate a few for you. It appears
"Asa" was a popular name with 19th cent. Penningtons, at least in Group 4.

Cheers,
Katherine
