Hello,
I'm starting my research in Elliott County Kentucky, Precinct 1,
Martinsburg; from the present to 1800. I don't have much information to
share with others, yet. The following are some of the relatives that I am
attempting to document:
Bracton Jayson Pennington-db. 03-10-1883, dd. 12-13-1964. He was
married to Mary Jane Forest, db. 03-08-1887, dd. 08-26-1948. His brothers
and sisters were: Tommy, Laura, Ruth, Rachel and Anna. His half siblings:
Fanny (Mayes) Pennington, db. 1877; John, db. 1875;
Nelson, db. 1873; Elizabeth, db. 1870. All of the above dates (except
Bracton's & Mary Jane's) could be off by one year, either way because those
of Fanny through. Elizabeth came from the 1880 census. I don't know who the
mother of the half brothers and sisters was.
Just in case I've gotten wildly lucky and one of you is a cousin or
perhaps knew the family, these are Bracton and Mary Jane's children:
Talmage L., db. 03-10-1907, dd. 12-13-1964, m. Maude Kegley; Gladys (Evans);
Orville; Mima (1. Harris, 2. Parsons); Opal (Fowler); Shirley (Adkins); Anna
(Haymen); William Curtis, m. Fern James; Ina Elizabeth (Joseph); Faye
(James); Clarence Jason; Mozell (Kidd).
Bracton's parents were Elijah Pennington, db. 1849, and Nancy Jane
Barker, db. 1859. Elijah had a brother Daniel, db. 1846, a sister Jane, db.
1858 and mother Elizabeth, db. 1813.
My present 'theory' is that the Elizabeth, db. 1813, was married to
the Elijah Pennington (db 05-01-1812) who was the son of William Pennington
(db.1764 in NC, dd. 1840 in Lawrence Co. KY) and Abigail Caudill, who
married on 02-09-1785 in VA. Again, this is only theory.
I don't have the permission of any of the people mentioned, who are
presently living, to publish their names pubicly.
If none of these names appear in your groups research, would one of
you please be kind enough to e-mail me and let me know. This way, I can
continue my search through the process of elimination. I'm sorry if I've
taken up too much space here; I just don't know the rules yet. Thank you
