BTW, I found James Alexander MONTGOMERY in the Jefferson County, AL 1900
Census with his second wife, Emma (listed as Emmer) STROUD. This was 7
months after Sarah E. PENNINGTON died. The site is below. Maybe this will
help.

The correct children/ages are listed with places of birth. Tell me what you
