Looking for any and all information on the ancestors of my great
grandmother, MARY JOSEPHINE PENNINGTON, born October 25, 1863 in
Indiana; died December 7, 1939 in Sacramento, California. Mary
Josephine married William A. Wedderien in Marysville, California in
1883. Our family knows very little about her. She told her children
that she was half Cherokee, and that both her parents had died of
cholera when she was young. Her parents were either born in Indiana or
North Carolina (all censuses say the former, her death certificate says
the latter). One older family member thinks she may have lived in
Oklahoma before coming to California.

Any information, suggestions or broad guesses? I am at the proverbial
brick wall. Thanks.
