The 1850 Jackson Co census has Timothy Pennington, 53, farmer, b Va. Mary
46, b Tn, Thompson 10 b Tn; Amanda P. 7 b Tn Cyntha A. 5, b Tn, Mary Price
44, b Ky.
This Timothy may be the 1/2 brother of Anthony and son of Joshua, Sr. There
are other Penningtons in the area: Elizabeth, widow of Anthony, Samuel
Pennington, bro of Elizabeth, Simeon the father of Elizabeth, Uriah the son
of Elizabeth, Wilson Pennington, James Pennington, Welcome Pennington,
William Pennington, Elizabeth Pennington Hestand (gd of Richard), Elizabeth
Pennington Hughes (prob dau of Anthony), and Mary Polly Pennington Garner.
Many of the neighbors: Plumlee, Denton, Whitson, Clancy, Moss, Kindal,
Malone, Moore, and Hale inter-married in the area or went on to Southern
Illinois and married or lived as neighbors there. The two counties seemingly
most impacted were Wayne and Franklin. Others have descendents still in Clay
Tn (formerly part of Jackson) or across the line in Monroe, Ky.
