Battles of the U.S. Civil War are generally referred to by the name applied
by the Union Army, since they were the victors. Case in point: The Battle of
Pea Ridge is known by us Southrons as The Battle of Elk Horn Tavern. I
personally prefer the appelation "The War for Southern Independence." as used
by the Grissom Brothers in their scholarly work which includes "Southern by
The Grace of God," and "Was Jefferson Davis Right?", Pelican Press, Gretna,
LA.
