This obit was in my local paper yesterday and knowing that there are many
Zook researchers on these lists will post it in the hopes that it will be
of help to someone doing this research. I am not researching Zook
personally. There is a photo of Mr. Zook included in the article, which I
will be happy to scan and send to anyone writing to me personally for it.

Donald G. Zook
RANCHO CUCAMONGA - Donald Gene Zook, 71, of Rancho Cucamonga died July 29,
2003, at San Antonio Community Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1932, near Athens, Ill. He resided in
Illinois for more than 50 years and in York, Pa., for three years. He was a
resident of Rancho Cucamonga since 1989.
He enjoyed ,hiking, gardening, traveling and reading.
He received a Master's degree in agricultural engineering from the
University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in various manufacturing
engineering managerial positions from 1953 until 1989. He then took a
position teaching manufactunng engineering at California State Polytechnic
University; Pomona where he was bestowed the title of Professor Emeritus
on June 4, 2003, after retiring in March of 2003.
During his distinguished career he served as president of the Society
of Manufacturing Engineers. He served as a member of the National
Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology and the National
Association of Industrial Technology Board of Accreditation. He was
affillated with the American Society of Metals, the Society of Automotive
Engineers, and the National Society of' Professional Engineers.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cynthia Zook; his four children,
Richard, James, Elizabeth and Margaret and their spouses; and 13
grandchildren, Karen Ziemke, Sarah, Tobin, Aimee, Megan, Liana and Julia
Zook, Kathryn and Alex Zook, Devon and Adrienne. Theune, and Zoe and Donald
Willingham. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eva Zook;
and a sister, EloiseTerry.
There will be no memorial service. Memorial contributions may be sent to
the College of Engineering/The Donald G. Zook Memorial. Fund, College of
Engineering, Cal Poly Pomona, 3801 W. Temple Ave., Pomona, CA 91768.
