I haven't seen much of the Penn*E*ys lately, so I thought I'd post my
info again just to even things up a bit. =)

My line starts with:
Robert PENNEY b. 6 March 1779 England
+ Mary BAGGS b. ca. 1782 England

A small family profile, published in the History of Mitchell County (Iowa),
says Robert had a dairy farm in Owermoigne, Dorset, Eng. Part of their
business was to supply one of the royal summer households with milk and
butter. [There is also a mention of someone being a servant for the Wild
family, refugees from France, but it is not clear which of the Penneys this
was.] Robert's son was:
William PENNEY b. 7 April 1799 Owermoigne, Dorset, Eng.
+ Elizabeth GARLAND b. 9 May 1801 Owermoigne, Dorset, Eng.
12 children, 10 who lived and went to America:
Robert (1820), George (1821), Arthur (1823), Susan (1831), Charles (1833),
Frank (1835), William jr. (1837), John (1839), Alfred (1841), and Henry
(1843).

Robert PENNEY and Arthur PENNEY came to Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1844, and
their father William and the rest of their siblings followed the next year.
In 1855 Charles PENNEY went to Mitchell Co., Iowa, selcted farm land, and
in the spring of 1856 the rest of the family moved there. And for the most
part, the Penneys have stayed there.

I am now trying to trace the family in England-- surely Robert had
children other than William, and I also hope to find records of the family
before Robert.

Anyone on the list think they might link to this family in the US or
England? Let me know--

Melanie Sprague
