Hi Patti & All Others Reading--
I have traced my PENNY line to PA, but I do not think we share the same
line--at least on this side of the pond.
In my research I did find a goodly number of PENNY families in PA. An early
one was a will for William PENNY, probated 8 July 1767--his wife was
Eleanor; and children James, Hugh, Joseph, William, and daughter Grissall.
Living in Drumore Township, Lancaster Co., PA.
Benjamin Franklin published "Pennsylvania Gazette", and abstracts show the
following mention of PENNY:
1752--Abraham PENNY listed as a mariner on the ship "Union" out of Dublin.
1753--Captain PENNY, captain of a ship leaving New York.
1756--James PENNY was named as living in Colerain Township.
1757--Thomas PENNY was living in Lancaster Co.
1761--The estate of Abraham PENNY of Bucks, Co. was mentioned.
1761--William PENNY of Lancaster Co. was mentioned.
1763--Thomas PENNY was listed as living in Cumberland Co.
Some of this info may help.
