Hi Lise--
There were many PENNY families in NC & VA. The Wm & Elizabeth that you
mention are believed to be my ancestors, but in my records I can find no
connection to Wm and Abigail in Lincoln Co.

Household (1) below is is believed to be Wm & Eliz of Mecklenberg Co. that
you refer to.

CENSUS 1790
SALISBURY DISTRICT, MECKLENBURG CO.

(1) WP Household---1 male 16+
3 males 16-
4 femalesNO slaves

SALISBURY DISTRICT, ROWAN CO.

(2) WP Household---1 male 16+
NO male 16-
4 females4 slaves
-----
Also, I recognize the other surnames in your note, from the will probated
for Elizabeth in 1775. I believe her husband William died in 1761, and that
the family originally moved to NC from PA.

One son of this Wm & Eliza was William (b1751) also [what I believe is
household (1) above], and he married Elizabeth Barkley Penny; their son
John Barkley PENNY is my 3G grandfather.

Let me know what you think of the above.
