My Gr Grandfather, John ROBERTSON, was born in 1802 in Perth and
immigrated to New York where he met and married about 1836 Janette
RANKIN, born in 1810, in Glasgow. Their children were named in order of
birth: David, William & Andrew (twins), Jane, John W., Robert and Ellen.

John ROBERTSON told the story that he and Janette RANKIN lived
about seven miles from one another in Scotland but had never met until
they arrived in New York. I have studied parish maps but cannot see how
this story could be true unless parish boundaries have changed
considerably. I do not know if he was born in the city of Perth itself
or the parish of Perthshire. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone
who can help me regarding this matter.
