What an interesting story and how frustrating! Yes, those 'Kunta Kinte
" moments are fantastic aren't they! (By the way we did see in England
the wonderful TV mini series of Roots and I have recently revisited it
on DVD- great stuff!)

I have a Robertson in my husband's family, Elizabeth Robertson, born 14
Oct 1855 in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire. Parents,Thomas Robertson and
Elizabeth Frew.

Although I had found Elizabeth R with her husband, William Mc Saveney
and children on the 1891 Census, I had a very frustrating time trying
to find her marriage to the said W,. Mc Saveney. I could not find it on
the IGI or Scotland's People. Then on Ancestry.Com's World Trees ( the
Free bit) , I found William and Elizabeth and 3 of the children and a
marriage date of 1871 but Elizabeth was listed as Elizabeth ROBINSON!
I seem to remember reading since then on a Scottish surname site that
these 2 names were variants of the same. So all of this to suggest
that you try looking for Robert ROBINSON.
