ROOKE/ROOK of Philadelpha then Staten Island, New York

We are looking for the parents and siblings of Amos Rooke. His
headstone and records in the Moravian church on Staten Island state he
was born in Philadelphia on 17 March 1753. He died on Staten Island 30
Sept. 1842. Records at the Moravian Church also state Amos says he was
"raised a Quaker." We have searched records at Swarthmore and came up
with nothing.

In Amos' application for a pension(1833) for the Rev. War he states he
enlisted in the PA Line under Captain Proctor and served in Col.
Proctor's regiment. He was in Philadelphia about 6 weeks before the
Battle of Brandywine in a regiment of artillery.

Any clues about the origins of this man and his family would be greatly
appreciated.
