Hi all,
Thought I should post this to the list for the benefit of everyone.
"Voices of Kensington: Vanishing Mills, Vanishing Neighborhoods" was written by Jean Seder and deals with the people she knew. Her father owned one of
the mills in Kensington. The book was published by Whitmore Publishing in 1982.
The book is a series of interviews, along with photos of the people, the mill - including interiors, and the neighborhood. I purchased my copy used.
Either through Bibliofind or one of the big online bookstores. It originally sold for $6.95. I think I paid $15 including shipping.
The individuals 'interviewed" in this book are as follows:
Irene and Tom Brown (mother and son)
Gus Misuimas
Catharine Hutt
Arthur Adams
Joe Barker
Marion Knuttell
Joe Knuttell
Matt Pytel
Irene (Rocky) Dougherty
Samuel Berg
William Hartley
"Aunt Sadie"
Nancy McCoy
Betty Makarewicz
John Sullivan
I hope this helps everyone who has expressed an interest. From my perspective the photos were priceless - I now have an idea of what my "weavers" from
Kidderminster saw each day when they went to work. And the neighborhood in which they lived. And reading the interviews was very interesting as well.
Good hunting all,
Georgeanne
