AUSTIN ABBOTT DEAD
He Was Dean of the New York University Law School.
NEW YORK, April 19.-Austin Abbott, LL. D., dean of the New York
University Law School, died at his residence, 16 East Fifty-first
street, this morning, after an illness of about ten weeks.
Austin Abbott was born in Boston December 18, 1831. He was a
brother of the late Benjamin Vaughan Abbott, the well-known writer
on law; Dr. Lyman Abbott, of Brooklyn, and Dr. Edward Abbott, of
Cambridge, Mass. He graduated from the New York University in 1851,
and was admitted to the practice of law, forming a partnership with
his brothers, Vaughan and Lyman. In conjunction with the former, he
began the publication of "Abbotts' New York Digest" and Abbotts'
Forms." In 1889 the New York University conferred upon him the
degree of LL. D. and in 1891 he was called upon to assume the
position of dean of the University Law School, with the chair of
Pleading Equity and Evidence.
Here is an interesting item to those interested in Mt. Moriah Cemetery!

Lastly, many other obituaries are in this issue, but they are cut off
on my copy. I see the following bits and pieces of names that may
respresent a death, marriage, etc. of the individual, or the name may
be the individual holding the funeral, etc. If you recognize these
names, you may wish to obtain a copy of that material from the Free
Library...
