Has anyone on this list had any dealings with the U. S. Railroad Retirement
Board, in regard to genealogical information requests? I have all the
necessary information for my deceased grandfather (b.d., d.d., residence,
name of railroad he worked for, name of the railroad, sos. sec. #, etc.),
but I wonder if the information I would receive (assuming they find his file
from 1940) is worth the $21 charged. I quote from their web page: "The
records it [rrb] maintains deal primarily with the administration and
payment of benefits." If that's the truth, why would anyone collecting
genealogical information be happy with pension payout statistics. If anyone
got satisfaction, please get back to me. Thanks.
Howard
