Just wanted to take this opportunity to praise the people of Hillside
Cemetery, especially the director, Paul Bowen. I've been in contact with them
several times. My experience has been that Paul is extremely kind to
genealogists and goes above and beyond the call to be helpful. A couple of
months ago, I contacted them about my ancestors who are buried there and Paul
was very quick to fax me maps and plot cards, and when I arrived at the
cemetery, he had put a small flag on the lot so I could locate it quickly,
and on the flag he left a very kind note. You know, this attitude toward
genealogists is so important that it is my belief we should do what we can to
reciprocate. In your quest for information, if you are treated with respect
be sure to express your thanks; but when the staff goes above and beyond the
call in their assistance, be extra generous with your gratitude and even send
a "thank you" card or some other type of token of your appreciation. It will
go a long way, I think, to ensure the respect for our efforts continues.
