Pat:

Your family seems to be one of hundreds of Irish textile workers that
lived in the mill district of Kensington, the textile capital for
Philadelphia. 50% of Philadelphia textiles came out of the factories in
Kensington. Adams Street, where the below people lived, is now called
Hagert Street. The numbering system is also different now. The 500
block of Adams is probably somewhere around the 2000 to 2200 block
of Hagert Street.

The original address of 2349 N. 4th Street, would have been is
Kensington, as were all the other addresses that area listed below:
Adams Street, Amber Street, Arizona Street, Howard Street, etc. These
addresses were all in what today they would call "Lower Kensington,"
but back then simply "Kensington." Kensington is a neighborhood in
the city of Philadelphia.

If you are interested our history group "Kensington History Project,"
published some articles in the Historical Society of Pennsylvania's
magazine titled "Pennsylvania Legacy," which document the history of
Kensington. Contact me if you would like a copy.
