It was not uncommon for couples of two different faiths to be married in each of their churches, especially if one was catholic. Another fallout of this situation is that the couples are often buried separately with the catholic partner being buried in a catholic cemetery while their spouse was buried somewhere else. I have a number of situations like this both in Phila and in New Orleans.
