Something I don't get........
I had a "lot" of folks asking for a GEDCOM file. So I went to Family Tree Maker & uploaded
a GEDCOM. It in turn changed it into some JAVA mess that I just deleted. In the meantime, I
was telling the world "I have a GEDCOM you can have at FTW".

Not ONE person came back & said: "Bill, I don't know WHAT that mess is at FTW, but it sure
isn't a GEDCOM in the traditional sense of the word". Not one. I'm chalking it up to
everyone on the above lists just being the polite & courteous folks they are.

I now have a "real" GEDCOM (still privatized) at

It's basically a repeat of the Master Surname Database found at that website. It isn't full
of pictures OR source data (to minimize file size), but it should give a better picture of
who's who & ya don't need to stay connected to the internet to use it.
The file is also Zipped (to avoid corruption in transmission) so you'll need some unzip
program.

PS..... neither the file nor the website shows recent additions/changes to PIGG, CREECH,
KASH, LOMBAS, HINES, TURBEVILLE, GARRETT, LOLLEY, COPE, PILLOW ...... changes since April.

Farrell Turbeville was incorrectly listed as deceased..... that has been "fixed" & he is in
our prayers....... as is all of the list members. My humble apologies.
