Subject: LOOKING FOR DESCENDANTS OF GENs ALBERT PIKE & ZEBULON M PIKE

Am trying to verify some "Family Lore," which says that we are related to
Albert PIKE (the "reluctant" CSA General) and Gen. Zebulon M PIKE. Par for
the course, right?

I would like to know if anyone recognizes "Grandpa's uncles" described
below. It would be great to put names to these great men. With no TV or
other distractions, surely grandpa PIKE entertained the children with his
family lore!

Thru letters written in 1928 by W T HARTSFIELD, who grew up in the household
of his grandfather, Samuel M(erritt?) PIKE there is much family information
and "folklore." He said that grandpa was a cousin to Gen Albert PIKE and
that he remembered when he visited in Texas. He told some great stories of
grandpa's PIKE uncles. He stated that Gen Zebulon M PIKE was one uncle.
There were several uncles, unnamed, but their prowess was vividly described!

"During the Revolutionary war, several of Grandpa's uncles served in
Washington,s army. They were noted for physical strength and endurance. .
."

"One Uncle was a prize fighter. He would challenge champions of other
states. Meet on the state line and fight for the purse."

"Another uncle was a professional wrestler. He also would challenge
champions of other states. He would stand toe-the-mark and make Forty Five
(45) feet in three (3) leaps."

**Does anyone have knowledge of a PIKE who was a wrestler and/or a prize
fighter?**

My research has shown that Albert & Zebulon M PIKE were related to each
other and both go back to John PIKE, "the First" of the Bay Colony, Mass. I
have not been able to connect with this family and have been unable to go
back any further back on my line than ---
