Age 79, died Saturday, February 7, 1953 at 6:30 pm in Yucaipa, California. A
native of Wilson, NC, he came to Norfolk in 1902. He was in the bicycle
business and for 40 years, owned his own shop "Pittman's Bicycle Shop", on
the corner of 27th Street and Colley Avenue. He retired in 1946 and went to
California to live. Besides his widow, Mrs. ETHEL PITTMAN, he is survived by
1 daughter, Mrs. MARGARET SAWYER of Alexandria; 2 sisters, Mrs. J.L. MOORE
of Kingston, NC and Mrs. E.D. HARRIS of Henderson, NC; 3 grandchildren and a
number of nieces and nephews.


Ralph Zennie PITTMAN Sr
Thursday, May 9, 1968 / Friday, May 10, 1968
Norfolk - Age 52, in the 53rd year of his age, of 347 San Antonio Blvd, died
at a Norfolk hospital Tuesday, May 7, 1968 at 7:55 pm. A native of Hubert,
NC, he lived here 27 years. He was the husband of Mrs. FLORINE MIDGETT
PITTMAN and a son of the late HARDY and Mrs. JULIE ALPHARETTA CONWAY
PITTMAN. He worked for Stone & Webster Iron Co and was a member of Iron
Workers Union Local 79 and Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. Besides his
widow, surviving are 2 sons, RALPH Z. PITTMAN Junior and JESSIE H. PITTMAN
and a daughter, Miss CAROL ANN PITTMAN, all of Norfolk and 2 brothers,
LONNIE M. PITTMAN and ALVIN L. PITTMAN and a sister, Mrs. DUNNIE FRAZIER,
all of Hubert. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 10, 1968 at
2:00 pm in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev ROBERT
A. ROSE of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn
Cemetery.
