Hi Jane -

There is masses of information about Geoffrey and Matilda's ancestors.
Geoffrey was the Count of Anjou (in France) and Matilda was the daughter of
Henry I of England, whose nickname was Beauclerc because he was a brilliant
administrator. Through Henry the line passes back through William the
Conqueror into the Scandinavian and English royal families. You can search
back easily through history books or through the IGI - just put Henry I of
England in and go with it. Same with Geoffrey of Anjou. Incidentally, the
name Plantagenet comes from the emblem that Henry II used - Planta Genista -
which is that yellow stuff we call broom, so strictly speaking Geoffrey was
not a Plantagenet.
