Surnames of my family with beginning roots in the Georgia counties of Sumter
County (Americus, GA) and Lee County (Smithville, GA).

Samuel
Denson
Smothers
Reddick
Lamar
White

Sims (Anniston, Alabama area)

The Samuel were from South Carolina immediately after the Civil War.
The Denson were from Virginia. The others are believed to have long time
roots in Georgia.

In the early 1900s, the family began to migrate from Georgia. Some
established families in the Hartford, Connecticut area and other places in
the North. Some went south to Florida and established families in Fort Myers,
FL and the South Bay regions of the state.
