I have already received a welcome. Thank You!
I am not sure if my people are to be found here --however, I haven't found them elsewhere. So here is my BRICK WALL:
Harrison Boling(Bolen, Bolin, Bowlin, etc), b. circa 1800 in NC; d. 1842 in Blount County TN.
Harrison married Matilda Peery, d/o William Peery and Mary Wynn of VA.
Identified children are:
Mary Jane, b. 1833 m. Gordon Cloyd Conley
Andrew, b. 1835 m. 1) Barbary Wynn 2) Elizabeth Gose
Margaret, b. 1837 - still living with her mother in 1860 census of Tazewell VA
William, b. 1839, m. Sarah Grills
John, b. 1840 --no further info (may have died during the Civil War or he may have been a minister in Tazewell)
Matilda, b. 1841 - still living with mother in 1860 census of Tazewell VA

Harrison is listed as white in the 1840 Blount County census. However, in 1830 census, there is only one Bolen listed -- John and his is listed with 2 in the household --0 white. Other Bolin or Bolen or Boling family members are identified as FPC in one census (in a different county) and white in the next (in Blount County). This indicates to me a mixed family.
I would be grateful for any clues. I have looked everywhere --think Harrison must have just climbed out from behind a rock, fully grown and has no parents. :-) Sheila
