I've been researching someone who lived near Czempin in the mid 1800's and whose occupation is translated as a forest guard - I assume that would be similar to a forest ranger. Does anyone have historical background to suggest what the role of such a forest ranger would have been and possible forests in the Czempin area that would have needed such protection?
