Edwina,
When typing out the village names in Poland, it would be a big help to
others if you'd use the ~ to indicate when a preceeding letter should
have a diacritical mark. Golancz would be "Gol~an~cz". This gives the
word a whole different pronounciation. Also, it's very helpful if you
also mention the old wojewo~dtzwo your village is located in.
And, it's Poznan in Polish, Posen in German.
