Susan,
My grandmother was named Constance and was known to all her friends as
"Gusty". I'm not sure exactly how it came to be, but my father tells me
that when my grandfather had to fill out paperwork that listed his spouse's
name he didn't know how to spell "Constanzia" so he put down "Gusty".
Because of this almost all paperwork that refers to my grandmother lists her
as "Gusty". My dad says that even her social security checks used to come
to "Gusty".
HTH,
