Hi all,
Just wanted to share something since so many of you suggest checking with the LDS Family History Center for microfilms of parish books in Poland. After many long hours on many Saturdays pouring over barely ledgible films from a number of different Sokolows, I finally wrote to LDS to ask if they had the Sokol~o~w I needed - Sokol~o~w Mal~opolski. There is still a large portion of Poland (Malopolski area in particular) that has not been filmed. Attached is the LDS reply:

Thank you for your inquiry.

I regret to inform you that we do not have any records (including civil, censuses, address directories etc.) for Sokolow Malopolski and Wolka Niedzwiedzka. Please note that Roman Catholics from Wolka Sokolowska went to the church in Wolka Niedzwiedzka and therefore would be included in these records.

Priests were required to send copies of their parish registers to a diocese so I assume that there would be records that you need at either Przemysl diocese or Rzeszow diocese (since 1992).

I am very sorry to bother you by Email. I have been trying to find documents on my family from Poland. I have rented several of your micrtofilms though my local FHC (Wilmington DE). None of the microfilms of church records that I searched were the ones I need.

Maybe you can tell me if you even have the church books microfilmed that I need to search. Also, are there any civil records (census, address dirctories, etc.) available on microfilm?

I need to find in Poland:
Sokolow (Malopolski), Wolka Niedzwiedzka, and Wolka Sokolowska. All are now in Rzeszow, back in the 19th century they were under the diocese of Przemsyl.

I have written several times to the Sw. Jana Chrzciele Roman Catholic church in Sokolow. I have recently found out that it has only been there since 1905. The original church Sw. Ducha burned down in 1904. Since it is possible that the church records were also burned, is there some way of finding civil records? I have already written to the State Archives in Poland also.
