Subject: [POLAND] Foreign Ministry Complains About New U.S. Visa Rules
Date: Wed, 23 Jul 2003 15:06:20 -0700
Hello list,
I'm including here an e-mail just received from a newfound cousin in
Warsaw - a well-traveled, well known man in his industry. We were hoping to
have a 'family reunion' next year in order to meet him. The family has
been out-of-touch for over 50 years.
After his e-mail are two links I found on Google - news articles from Poland
and Russia.

"We considered trip to USA some time next year but only recently we learned
about new restrictions on US visas for Poles. It appears that US Embassy
will cancel all valid visas (ours were valid until 2008 but this will be
cancelled) and we have to apply for new ones with extra fees, eye scanning
and finger prints. It is a shame to introduce such a treatment for ally and
as your President said best friend in Europe, especially considering that
Americans do not need any visas for travelling here. It is a pity, but we
have to consider that we are not welcome in USA. Funny to say it will be
also introduced for business visas which so far were relatively easy to
obtain. It is humiliating to be treated by young bureaucrats of US Consulate
as potential criminals.
It all may sound bitter, but if US Embassy official announcement released
few days ago will be really introduced into practice we are going to forget
any travelling to USA."
