Please keep in mind that when you cite Wikipedia as a source for research,
Wikipedia can be edited by anyone who wants to "correct" information on the
site. It doesn't mean the corrections are correct. Using Wikipedia as a
primary source has become controversial and those of us in mass
communications are urging our students NOT to use it because the information
is not always confirmed to be factual.

Hello Debbie,

"Control" and "occupier", IMHO, will require Paul to present an
indepth political and history discussion in his family history report,
or at least detailed footnotes in his family history chart.

Regarding Poland in 1960, it was "a sovereign state as defined by
the international law" - the People's Republic of Poland or Polish
People's Republic (PPL) (Polish: Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa, PRL).

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People's_Republic_of_Poland

Now the semantics: PRL leaders since the 1956 were appointed or
accepted by the Soviet Union leaders (the USSR...Union of Soviet
Socialist Republics). "They (PRL) aligned their policies with those of
Moscow, making the PRL a satellite state subordinate to the Soviet
Union."

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People's_Republic_of_Poland

Nevertheless, the fact is that the PRL was not a republic of the USSR
- from an international law perspective.
