In 1909 does anyone know what the closest Polish church was to Homestead,
PA?

When my Luczak family arrived thru the Baltimore Port they had a Martha and
a Mary that we could never track to anywhere. Does anyone know what
hospital might have been near Baltimore that was open where maybe these
children could have gone in 1887, or do you know of a website where it might
show Baltimore, MD deaths online? Seems these children didn't arrive at
their destination.

Thanks

In the book "In Search of Our Ancestors" by Megan Smolenyak there is a story
titled "Island of Tears". Where a family was detained in a hospital. The
baby died, and they released the family, then the mother and other daughters
traveled to Pennsylvania. A family researcher many years later checked the
New York City Municipal Archives, searched death records for Richmond county
she found the death record she was looking for and the baby was buried Mt.
Olivet Cemetery, in Queens County. I do not know if this was a common
practice, but at least now you know that it has happened.
