I found this in the DAR records for Pickaway County, Ohio. These records
were gleaned from various sources, apparently, including old newspapers and
cemetery records.

Benjamin Pontius - d. Mar 26, 1853; age 77 yrs 10 mo 11 days. wie Rosannah
(daughter of Melcher Moyer) d. Feb. 2, 1864 age 71 yr 1 mo 19 days; Forest
Cem., Circleville Twp.

>From will abstracts on the same film:

Roseann Pontius
Made Jan. 12, 1864, Probated Mar. 1, 1864. Mentions son David, dau's
Susannah Curtis, Barbary Pontius, Eliza Ann Frazer, Sarah Dunkle, Mary
Moyer, and Catherine Tyler. Wit's. John Morris and David Helvering.

Melcher Mayer
Probated Mar. 13, 1820. Mentions wife Catherine, sons and daughters, and
son-in-law Benjamin Pontious. Bought land of John McNeal on Oct. 28, 1816.
Wit's. John Hughes, Wm. Bell and G. Wolfley.

Does anyone know who this Benjamin Pontious is? According to the dates, he
would have been born about May 1775. There is a Benjamin A., son of Andreas
& Barbara Sherman Pontius, who was born about 1781, but nothing I have so
far proves this to definitely be him. He did die about 1859 according to
PFA charts, which fit with his wife not mentioning him in her will. Anyone
have something more solid?
