Re posted query on Jonathan POPE married Delilah, following is
old information (circa 1998) from POPE-L. My POPE data base
shows Leonidas Napoleon ‘Le’ was the son of James Jerome
POPE who was a son of Jonathan and Delilah POPE. The POPE
cemetery information below lists Mary M. Pope was wife of
Joseph J. POPE. Mary Murphy Worthington was the wife of
James Jerome POPE, according to what I have.

I have not verified this but the information may provide leads
and contacts:

Does anyone have information on MITCHELL NAPOLEON POPE
and LEONIDAS POPE, (aka "Le Pope) of Wildwood, GA? LEONIDAS
was the grandson of Jonathan and Delilah Coulter Pope of
Mt. Airy, TN in the Sequatchie Valley of Bledsoe/Sequatchie
Counties. LEONIDAS was a Confederate veteran and according
to "Leaves From the Family Tree" by Penelope Johnson Allen of
the TN DAR, lived at Pope Hills in Dade County. And, according
to the same account from "Leaves..." MITCHELL NAPOLEON POPE,
a son of Jonathan and Delilah Pope, m. Hallie Acock, and also lived
in Dade County after returning from Texas.

Could be - the name is different. Johnathan Jacob Pope &
Delilah Coulter had a daughter Delilah M. born in 1823 & died
unknown, & married unknown. Her father b. 8/1786 &
d. 3/17/1860 - mother born in Rutherford, N. Carolina
05/01/1786 & d. 03/19/1860 & is buried in Mt. Airy, Pikewell,
Pope Cemetery, Bledsoe Do., TN. Jonathan Jacob Pope came
from North Carolina also - he is listed in the war of 1812
- the husband & wife died in the same month & year, &
both of pneumonia. Your Delilah would have been older.
Where did you get the info. re: her being an orphan?
Do you know who her parents were? If it is the same Delilah
(altho the years are not the same) she had 8 brothers & sisters.
Deliah's - the mother - parents were Alexander Coulter, Sr. &
Mary Moore. What do you think? Thanks! Are you sure of the
date that she was born?
