I went today and found the set of books previously mention by someone called
Germans to America - the 60 volume set. I found my family listed in there,
now I have a couple questions, if anyone can help.
It says their province was Prussia and their village was Freudenthal. They
left from Hamburg on a ship called Marsala that arrived in New York August 4,
1888. The page I copied have a few names it seems like I've seen mentioned on
this site, I will go to the Posen web page and if I find any matches I'll try
to get emails out, hopefully that will help others.
Now that I know the village they came from, how do I get more information from
there? It is probably called something else now right? Is this one of those
things that people say go to an FHC near me? Would they have information, and
if so under the name I have or the name it is probably called now? Also,
since they listed Posen and where they were from on census records - is this
village in Posen even though they say the province is Prussia?
Thanks for help!
Becky
